Who is Jocy

Hello!! My name is Jocylon Genet Evans, i am an actress originally from Waro Ethiopia( my birth name is Genet) and for fifteen years i have been an Indiana Hoosier!! For most of my life i have spent figuring out what is my passion so i tried all sorts of sports and hobbies like (soccer, lego robotics, cheer and i even joined a travel basketball team in middle school! However, I was always the shortest girl on the team which did not make me the greatest candidate for a career in the WNBA.
End of my freshmen year, my mom thought to put my older sister in voice lessons so she could be more comfortable singing in church so i was just tagging along for fun! After a few lesson my teacher recommended that i audition for the local production of the little mermaid! I made it through callbacks i was just thrilled! A few days later, my mom called me outside and told me i got the role of Flounder! After this, i thought that would be the limit of my career but my voice teacher again recommended i pursue this professionally.
This built a fire under me and a new passion that led me to theater camps like Stagedoor Manor and because there were very few resources in my town, i would drive a two hours almost everyday on top of school to perform in shows in Indianapolis! This led me to get my BFA in Musical Theater at Indiana University! I recently graduated with the class of 2026 and i am headed to NYC fall of 2026! Who would've thought that this little orphan would be the first immigrant in her family to get a college degree but also the first actress from Waro Ethiopia!

Fun fact- I turned 7 twice, I've seen the Minecraft movie 8 times as of May2026 and i ate a bagel and a hotdog before my NYC Showcase.

Now you know me a little!
